Duties & Responsibilities

The Risk Control & Oversight Department of the Bank is responsible to conduct risk-related tasks and assignments in respect of control and oversight on an enterprise-wide basis, of a broad range of risks such as credit, liquidity, market, concentration, enterprise, model, ESG and operational risk.

You will be responsible for:

  • conducting analysis in relation to various risk areas and support analytical work within the Risk Department;
  • contributing to the development, implementation and updating of risk and econometric models, risk metrics, risk management tools such as credit scoring models and other analytical models, risk rating of customers and other relevant risk management concepts;
  • maintaining and enhancing liquidity, credit and market risk management models and preparing analysis based on model simulations and stress testing;
  • drafting and reviewing internal Policies, Procedures and Working Instructions ensuring alignment to internal processes and updated regulation;
  • assisting in the compilation and timely submission of the Bank’s internal and regulatory reports and participating in the ICAAP, ILAAP and Recovery Plan processes;
  • contributing to achieving objectives as formalised in periodic Risk Plans;
  • contributing to the implementation of risk management projects;
  • becoming familiar with relevant regulation and standards such as CRR, CRD, EBA guidelines, IFRS 9 & MFSA rules; and
  • assisting with any other duties that may be required to achieve and exceed the Unit’s objectives as defined from time to time.

Competencies & Experience

The potential candidate should be reliable and trustworthy, well-organised, willing to learn and have a team-oriented approach.

You must:

  • have a strong quantitative background with a Degree in Financial Services, Statistics,  or equivalent;
  • be proficient in Microsoft Office application especially Microsoft Excel;
  • have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy;
  • be self-motivated with an ability to work on own initiative with tight deadlines;
  • have the ability to multitask;
  • be meticulous in your work;
  • have understanding and use of R-code will be considered an asset;
  • have knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages, which will be considered an asset; and
  • be proficient in both Maltese and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
