BNF Bank employees celebrated Women’s Day with a difference!

11 March 2020

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, BNF carried out an initiative for staff in celebration of International Women's Day.  With the scope of engaging both male and female employees, BNF Bank teamed up with local artist and entrepreneur Ms. Moira Zahra, to produce a unique and beautifully illustrated booklet highlighting the different roles of women in today's society.  BNF employees were encouraged to personalise each card with inspirational messages and dedicate them to important women in their lives who they felt best fit the different roles within each and every card.

The token, which was received very favourably amongst employees, subtly included references to BNF's human-centric approach and its core values; ambition, responsibility and empathy, within the illustrated themes.  From motherhood and sisterhood, to wisdom and wellbeing, to ambition and empowerment, the initiative inspired all employees to aim for #EachforEqual, this year's International Women's Day theme.

Maruska Buttigieg Gili, BNF Bank's Chief Risk Officer said that "International Women's Day serves as a reminder to appreciate women's contributions in various fields of society, their resilience and resolve, their love and compassion, their ambitions and success.  This initiative has challenged u to be curious about ideas, strike the right balance in life, pursue one's dreams and honour authenticity all year round. '' Ms Buttigieg Gili continued, ''At BNF Bank women make up 60% of the workforce and are given equal opportunities across different streams of management".

As part of the Bank's constant endeavours to give back to the community in which it operates, BNF further supported Fondazzjoni Dar il-Hena, the NGO behind Dar Maria Dolores whose mission is to support vulnerable women.  The shelter materialised through the generosity of the late Maria Dolores, a humble woman who donated her home to serve as a night shelter for women and children going through unfortunate circumstances.
