Switch off for Nature this Earth Hour

Every year, millions of people across the globe who are passionate about our planet are united at 8:30p.m. on the last Saturday of March for Earth Hour. This annual environmental movement helps in raising awareness of the issues facing our beautiful planet earth by switching off lights at home and across businesses. This yearly appointment which BNF has become accustomed to is about showing support for our environment and it also serves as a wake-up call for leaders from across the world to act fast.

Alongside many other companies, we're joining forces for Earth Hour and switching off ancillary lights for 1 hour, across all our 12-retail branch network. Show the world you care and celebrate this cause on Saturday, 27th of March 2021 from 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

What you can do during Earth Hour

Switch off your lights.

As obvious as it seems, this is the backbone of the Earth Hour movement, so make sure you turn off all your unnecessary lights both for Earth Hour and every day. This can be your first step into making better choices for your energy consumption. Reduce your carbon footprint even further by making use of sustainable LED light bulbs or to renewable energy.

Have a candle-lit dinner.

As the clock ticks closer to the hour, make yourself and your loved ones a special candlelit dinner with one of your tasty dishes, whilst of course respecting social distancing measures.  This can be another chance for you to make a conscious effort and reduce food wastage of which has a massive impact on the planet.

Go star gazing in the dark.

With a cup of hot beverage and a cosy blanket, whilst observing health authorities’ directions, enjoy the beautiful views of stars at night. It’s a perfect way to care for your well-being, get some fresh air amid this pandemic and get in touch with nature.

Catch up on your sleep.

Sleep might be something that you need after a week of working or studying. Use Earth Hour as an opportunity to go to bed early and get some rest!

Let your loved ones know.

Get the word out and tell your friends and family about EarthHour! In light of the pandemic, the Earth Hour Global team is suggesting to be a part of the cause online. Visit www.earthhour.org/new-in-2021 for more information.

Make green energy resolutions.

This will be the time that you, your family and friends make a commitment to help conserve the environment not only during Earth Hour but on every other day.

Together we can have immense power to help relief the burden on our world's shoulders and tackle the pressing issues of climate change. Earth Hour 2021 can be your starting point!
