Banif Bank (Malta) plc participates in Earth Hour

Banif Bank (Malta) plc participated in Earth Hour - a global event organised by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) on the 26th March 2011 between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 pm. Earth hour is held annually on the last Saturday of March, inviting households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness on the need to take action on climate change. Banif Bank (Malta) plc participated in this event with the rest of the Banif Group.

During the last weekend of March, the external signage of all eight branches in Malta and Gozo were turned off, as a sign that Banif Bank is committed to the environment and wants to make a statement against climate change. As a Group, Banif Bank is aware of the major challenges that climate change presents around the world and is active in promoting solutions.

For Banif - Financial Group, Earth Hour has defined objectives both internally and externally. Internally, the participation was intended to alert all employees to the need to reduce energy consumption in the workplace and at home. On an external level, the aim was to demonstrate to society the determination of the Group in reducing its environmental impact in line with its Environmental Policy.
