Banif Bank sponsors the Maltese National Football Team

Banif Bank is the official sponsor of the Maltese National Football Team for the 2010 World Cup Qualifying match against Portugal which will be held on the 14th October 2009 in Guimareas. This sponsorship was a natural choice for Banif, bearing in mind the close affiliations that the Bank has in Portugal.

Banif believes that this event is a good opportunity to reaffirm the Bank’s commitment towards the local community. As proven in the first round match held in Malta in September 2008, which was also sponsored by Banif, sport is a good medium to bring people from all walks of life together.

Our support will not be solely limited to financial backing, but we will also be leading a contingent of Maltese nationals in Portugal. In fact, during the last edition of the Malta Trade Fair, the Bank gave the opportunity to some clients to win a trip to watch the football match held in Portugal,” commented Mr Nuno Martins, COO of Banif Bank (Malta) plc, who was representing the Executive Committee of the Bank during the press conference announcing the sponsorship agreement. Prior to the football match, the Maltese delegation will also have the chance to visit Guimareas, which happens to be the city of origin of Portugal.
