Banif are Banca Cup 2014 Champions!

Banif Bank’s men’s team emerged triumphant in this year’s Banca Cup with an impressive record of four wins and one draw. After a gruelling round robin stage and some nail-biting encounters, Banif fought off the challenge from other Banks to come out on top and take the trophy home. The team was made up of members from all over the Bank’s offices and branch network, with a mix of seasoned veterans and exciting newcomers, such as top scorer Peter Sammut, providing the winning formula.

The Banca Cup is an annual football tournament organised by KPMG and contested by several local banks. Held at the Luxol Grounds at St. Andrew’s, the event was a thrilling showcase of the very best on offer from six different financial institutions.

This victory marks the first occasion that the Banif men’s team have claimed the title, having been perennial runners-up in previous editions. “Winning this trophy is a big achievement for us” said Anthony Farrugia, team captain. “We’ve got a great team at the office and it’s just fantastic to be able to carry this chemistry over to the football pitch. Let’s hope we can do it again next year!”
