Banif in 'Blood Donation Wednesdays'

Banif Bank’s Sports and Social Committee has teamed up with the National Blood Transfusion Service to organise a blood drive across the localities where the Bank has a presence and operates a branch. The initiative seeks to encourage employees and the public to participate in community initiatives, promote public health, attract new donors and reach out to those individuals who might find it difficult to go to the Blood Bank.

“A relative suffering from cancer needed a blood transfusion,” said Chanel Pace from Banifone, Banif’s Customer Service Centre. “I know how it feels to see donated blood making its way to intensive care for an urgent blood transfusion. Regular drives ensure a constant supply of blood that is ready to be transfused. I’m grateful to my Banif colleagues who chose to organise this!”

The blood donation mobile unit will be available near Banif Branches on Wednesdays between 8.00 am and 1.00 pm and has already visited the Bank’s Central Services in Gzira and the Naxxar Branch, while staff in Gozo donated at the Gozo General Hospital.

The full schedule of the Banif Blood Drive is as follows:

  • Siggiewi Branch 10th July
  • Fgura Branch 17th July
  • St Julian’s Branch 24th July
  • Qormi Branch 31st July
  • St Paul’s Bay Branch 7th August
  • San Gwann Branch 21st August
  • Attard Branch 28th August
  • Rabat Branch 4th September

The mobile unit collects more than 3000 units of blood per year and has become an important source of blood collection.
