Personal Customers

Moratorium on Home Loan, Buy-to-Let Loan and/or Personal Loan

With the aim of supporting personal customers whose income has been affected negatively by the Covid-19 crisis, we'll be accepting applications for a moratorium on the BNF Home Loan, Buy-to-Let Loan and/or Personal Loan subject to normal banking considerations. Customers may download the relevant application form from here and send a signed copy through a secure message on the BNF's Internet Banking portal.

Withdrawal of Cash

You can withdraw cash from any local Bank ATM 24/7 without incurring any related withdrawal charges. BNF Bank will refund all charges related to cash withdrawal from any other local Bank ATMs, until end June. This support measure is aimed to help our personal banking customers reduce their travel for cash withdrawals.

Customers are requested to use the ATMs for withdrawal amounts up to €500. BNF branch tellers will service cash withdrawal requests from accounts associated with a debit card, for amounts of over €500. Customers who do not have a BNF Debit Card are encouraged to apply for one free as soon as possible.

Travel Insurance

BNF Classic or Gold card holders are advised that their travel insurance policy remains applicable through the BNF Travel and Purchase Protection Insurance cover. Claims and travel queries related to the COVID-19 are being handled on a case by case basis. For queries in this regard, customers are required to contact Jatco Insurance Brokers PCC Ltd on +356 27791033, +356 99829977 or via bnfclaims@jatcoinsurance.com.

Business Customers

Now more than ever, our Business Relationship Managers are committed to providing financial advice and support with contingency preparations which businesses might require, in order to deal with the pandemic. We're mindful of the negative effects that the pandemic is having on businesses and we're offering a moratorium on business loans and working capital assistance to customers facing temporary liquidity issues.

Clients holding a Business Accelerate Loan may reach out to their Relationship Manager to get started with the process of application. In addition, business customers holding a Micro Business Loan can apply for a moratorium on their loan. The Bank will not charge any processing fees for requests related to moratorium.

In collaboration with the Malta Development Bank (MDB), BNF Bank is offering working capital assistance to support SMEs and Large Corporates who are facing challenges to run their day-to-day operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Financial support from BNF Bank will help customers keep up with critical running costs and honour payment commitments in the form of employees' salaries, acquisition of stock, rent, energy, water and fuel expenses in addition to various other obligations. The management of such costs can help keep businesses afloat through the current crisis until the situation normalises and improves. Depending on the eligibility criteria discussed with the BNF Relationship Manager, customers can apply for a working capital loan according to thresholds set by the Bank for SMEs and large Corporate Busineses. Fill up the application form accessible from this link and download the declaration form from this link. Please ensure to send all the required documentation via secure message on our Internet Banking.

The amount of time taken to clear cheques and bank drafts is up to 3 days.

Preventive measures at BNF branches

In line with Health Authority guidelines, customers visiting a BNF branch are kindly requested to comply with the preventive measures set by the Bank in order to help us safeguard the health and safety of our employees and customers.

  • Briefly remove the mask or visor for security and identification purposes as will be indicated by security personnel.
  • Use hand sanitisers before entering the branch.
  • Wear the mask again throughout the visit.
  • Follow queuing and social distancing guidelines.

Customer Flow - We're managing customer flow by restricting the number of people going inside the branch at one time and advising customers to keep a minimum distance of 1m when waiting to be served at any of our branches.
