Duties & Responsibilities
The Head - Regulatory Compliance Department shall head the Bank's Regulatory Compliance Department and is to report directly to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer.
You will be responsible for:
- acting as the Bank's Compliance Officer and serve as the main point of contact, whilst co-ordinating with the Bank's regulators; managing relationships with the regulators and auditors on regulatory compliance matters;
- managing and guiding the Bank's Regulatory Compliance Department;
- developing and adhering to an annual compliance programme which sets out the planned activities for the year;
- performing oversight, monitoring and reporting on compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements;
- assessing, on a continuous and regular basis, the Bank's adherence to regulations, rules and practices as issued from time to time by applicable regulators;
- providing the Bank's management with sufficient information on regulatory developments and the impact on the Bank's policies and activities, including recommendations for actions to be taken, and preparing compliance reports to management and external regulatory bodies when appropriate;
- providing advice and guidance on regulatory compliance;
- identifying documenting and assessing the compliance risks associated with the Bank's operational activities including the development of new products and business practices;
- ensuring that all policies and procedures comply with all prudential, financial conduct and supervisory laws under which the Bank operates, and rules issued by the Bank's regulators;
- guiding staff on compliance related issues and providing related advice, including the provision of training on regulatory compliance related matters; and
- in co-operation with the Bank's Data Protection Officer, ensuring that data privacy requirements are being followed throughout the Bank.
Competencies & Experience
The potential candidate should be reliable and trustworthy, well-organised with a disposition to learn and have a team-oriented approach.
You must:
- be an individual possessing the necessary knowledge to meet the Bank's regulatory requirements, coupled with a solid understanding on how to apply such requirements;
- ensure that your knowledge remains up to date and must be able to transpose such knowledge in the Bank's Policies, Procedures or Working instructions;
- ensure that the Bank achieves and maintains compliance with all current and future regulatory requirements;
- ensure that the Bank and employees are kept aware of their regulatory obligations within their area of responsibility and changes thereof;
- be self-motivated with an ability to work on own initiative with tight deadlines;
- be reliable and prepared to work under pressure; and
- be proficient in both Maltese and English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
